The software chooses an appropriate font style and size for each document based on its structure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, it allows you to change the default <em>LaTeX font<\/em> and default font size. These font sizes can be identified using specific names. However, their sizes aren\u2019t actually absolute. Instead, they are relative to the size of the font declared in the document\u2019s <em>\\documentclass<\/em> preamble.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, the command <em>{\\huge a huge font size}<\/em> tells LaTeX that the sentence \u201cthis is the huge font size\u201d should be formatted with huge font size.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This is an example showing {\\huge a huge font size} set.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When compiled, the output will resemble:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/PU0UNY_R_95yo358Kp7d9WRq04PNbpR6OpoNRyP5Rbf75fkEsZc8JGHQ4_eshyDBZkBPgojelrBv7ExzGqOwyCMQoBhM9jgjqvEjueMzIocn1HeAai-Ivrsj9tiwJFUbrJdO-nxs\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The different commands for font size are shown in the table below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/JvPQrM-tvxJi1PVgS36quRpgV03EtG3jAqqS8HiiPxLa2lmP7N0kJq0-2SK8OIUmPavsLJAOUSfv62r_n0DDDHw1jXxuQhDei5w8rgLuIUWYWcu3GzC1HhhN0Tqf2FdKjoh4Vn29\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see, the smallest font is set using the command {\\tiny size} while the largest one is set using the command {\\huge size}.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"adding-more-font-sizes\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Adding_More_Font_Sizes\"><\/span>Adding More Font Sizes<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>LaTeX offers a limited number of font sizes by default. You can add more sizing options using special packages. One of these is the <a href=\"http:\/\/mirror.ctan.org\/macros\/latex\/contrib\/extsizes\/extsizes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Extsizes package<\/a>. This package offers additional sizing options for the standard LaTeX document class packages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This includes font sizes 8pt, 9pt, 10pt, 11pt, 12pt, 14pt, 17pt, and 20pt, which applies to the <em>article<\/em>, <em>letter<\/em>, <em>book<\/em>, <em>report <\/em>and <em>proc <\/em>classes for documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can add these font options to your document class name using the code <em>\\documentclass[9pt]{extbook}<\/em> to add a 9pt size font for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"using-different-font-styles\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Using_Different_Font_Styles\"><\/span>Using Different Font Styles<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can set a variety of different font styles in LaTeX. If this occurs, LaTeX will show an error message at the bottom of the window after compiling your document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that these error messages tend to be detailed. Therefore, you can locate the error within a particular line and remove it.
