January 2010 is an important day in the life of Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, with a substantial change in the Editorial management of the journal. AP&T was founded in 1987 by Roy Pounder and Michael Langman; Michael stepped-down and was replaced in 1992 by Pete Peterson, essentially with the remit of expanding the journal impact outside Europe. Over the last 18 years, he has been a dedicated and effective Editor; the USA has been top of the list of authors countries of submission for some time, with submissions last year from 44 other countries.
