The International Journal of WorkIntegrated Learning IJWIL publishes peerreviewed original research and topical issues dealing with WorkIntegrated Learning WIL. IJWIL was formerly called the AsiaPacific Journal of Cooperative Education.WIL is defined as an educational approach that uses relevant workbased experiences to allow students to integrate theory with the meaningful practice of work as an intentional component of the curriculum. Defining elements of this educational approach require that students engage in authentic and meaningful workrelated tasks and must involve three stakeholders the student the university and the workplacecommunity.Examples of practice include offcampus workplace immersion activities such as work placements internships practicum service learning and cooperative education Coop and oncampus activities such as workrelated projectscompetitions entrepreneurships studentled enterprise etc. WIL is related to but not the same as the fields of experiential learning workbased learning and vocational education and training.
