Scope/Description:

The Journal of Contemporary Archaeology is the first dedicated international peerreviewed journal to explore archaeologys specific contribution to understanding the present and recent past. It is concerned both with archaeologies of the contemporary world defined temporally as belonging to the twentieth and early twentyfirst centuries as well as with reflections on the sociopolitical implications of doing archaeology in the contemporary world. In addition to its focus on archaeology JCA encourages articles from a range of adjacent disciplines which consider recent and contemporary materialcultural entanglements including anthropology art history cultural studies design studies heritage studies history human geography media studies museum studies psychology science and technology studies and sociology. Acknowledging the key place which photography and digital media have come to occupy within this emerging subfield JCA includes a regular photo essay feature and provides space for the publication of interactive webonly content on its website.

Impact Factor

Impact factor (IF) is a scientometric factor based on the yearly average number of citations on articles published by a particular journal in the last two years. A journal impact factor is frequently used as a proxy for the relative importance of a journal within its field. Find out more: What is a good impact factor?

III. Other Science Influence Indicators

Any impact factor or scientometric indicator alone will not give you the full picture of a science journal. There are also other factors such as H-Index, Self-Citation Ratio, SJR, SNIP, etc. Researchers may also consider the practical aspect of a journal such as publication fees, acceptance rate, review speed.
